Advent Collaboration is a series of 24 one-of-one artworks curated by Jenni and created with 24 artists. Each day in December opens the door to a new piece where two creative practices meet in a single work.
Each creator brings in their own creativity, that lets the ideas flow. The only set rule was for everyone to enjoy themselves to their fullest! The calendar becomes 24 moments of joy, mixing styles & ideas, inviting everyone to discover something new daily!
From chocolate windows to digital artworks.
The concept has been with me since 2022, when I thought why not have a digital art advent calendar on chain? Through the past couple years the idea developed further and changed a bit, but the core idea stayed the same; share joy and bring people together. Until this year I had the chance to grab on to it and make it come alive. With this project I want to bring some of the spark and excitement of the early days of digital art growth, where everyone was experimenting, collaborating, and mixing painting with animation, sound, 3D and code together as one.
The Collaborators
For this project my goal was to invite a wide cross-section of digital artists: animators, coders, digital painters, 3D artists, musicians, the list goes on, people who happily blend all of the above. Some collaborators were long-time friends, some were artists I knew but had never exchanged words with before and some I met for the very first time through this project.
Even if everyone had a very wide variety of backgrounds and unique approaches to art, we all had something in common; curious people who aren’t afraid to experiment. This excitement and eagerness to create is what lifts this project up a notch, as every piece is created with passion and love for craft.
Every creator invited to be a part of this project also are some of kindest people I've met, which makes this project even more heartfelt and precious. It's not often spoken of in this day and time, but get to work with people who are kind and support one another truly is privilege.
From painting to code and everything in between.
Because the combination of the two happens in a digital space it gives a big advantage in the project, each collaboration can bend mediums in ways that would be way more harder just doing it physically. Making it easier to combine multiple techniques, from music, animation, digital painting to 3D and code.
No two collaborations followed the same path. Some pieces respond directly to a collaborator’s existing style or technique. Others are built completely from scratch together. Some use digital painting, some physical scribbles and some only code, connecting multiple elements or reveal the work in playful, interactive ways, testing limits of experimental workflow.
Even if two completely different practices meet, there's the same goal to create without fear and filled with excitement & curiosity that leads each project to the finish line.
Structure of the Calendar
The project plays out across the first 24 days of December. Each day unlocks a new collaboration, available to view and collect for a limited time. Collectors can focus on single pieces or aim for the complete set. Those who collect all 24 artworks receive an additional gift piece created exclusively for full-set holders.
