While technology has transformed how we live, human behavior remains fundamentally unchanged. Always Has Been is an artwork by Chikai that examines this paradox of the digital age. Through an interactive system spanning AI, social media, and blockchain, centuries of technological and economic history are recomposed into shifting windows, shaped by collective participation. Composed of events, these alternate realities culminate in a series of physical sculptures, grounding the work in our reality.

To coincide with the publication of Genesis: #000-051, BottoDAO has produced 25 unique 1/1 special editions, each pairing a custom cover variant with an accompanying 1/1 print. The Genesis Period was Botto’s formative first year, an experiment in autonomous creation, collective governance, and token economies that constituted a decentralized autonomous artist. This book is a document of this critical first period of Botto as both an AI artist and as a novel architecture made up of social, technological, and economic building blocks.
