Spitballs
Commissioned by GlimmerDAO, Spitballs is a series of simulations in which language is rendered as a fluid organism born from a parasitic virus. The virus causes the spit of their hosts to become embedded with a latent phrase. As it rolls off the tongue, the non-Newtonian blob traverses a field of words in 3D space, binding them into a sentence. The resulting phrases carry fragments of advice discreetly seeded by an alien civilization, using this shadow channel of human communication as a mode of influence.
Always Has Been
While technology has transformed how we live, human behavior remains fundamentally unchanged. Always Has Been is an artwork by Chikai that examines this paradox of the digital age. Through an interactive system spanning AI, social media, and blockchain, centuries of technological and economic history are recomposed into shifting windows, shaped by collective participation. Composed of events, these alternate realities culminate in a series of physical sculptures, grounding the work in our reality.
Death & Taxes
Death and Taxes drops 6,969 citizens into a harsh system where taxes rise daily and anyone who fails to pay can be audited and eliminated until only 69 winners remain. Split along rigid class lines, Commoners, Bureaucrats, and the Wealthy bring their own unique advantages to the game, but in the end it comes down to who's willing to keep paying to survive. Sound familiar?
Genesis Special Editions
To coincide with the publication of Genesis: #000-051, BottoDAO has produced 25 unique 1/1 special editions, each pairing a custom cover variant with an accompanying 1/1 print. The Genesis Period was Botto’s formative first year, an experiment in autonomous creation, collective governance, and token economies that constituted a decentralized autonomous artist. This book is a document of this critical first period of Botto as both an AI artist and as a novel architecture made up of social, technological, and economic building blocks.
Pendulums
Pendulums, Chapter II of Pursuit of Equilibrium, is a generative art collection of 512 living pieces shaped by real-world pendulum physics. Built on principles as old as the universe itself, each piece is a live simulation, drawing itself moment by moment through gravity, motion, and time.
