On 22 June 2017, Larva Labs created the CryptoPunks contract: 10,000 characters of 24 × 24 pixels, free to claim, and the start of the NFT as we know it. No Punk is woven here. Instead, the collection's famous rarity: 9 aliens as the largest blocks, 24 apes, 88 zombies, and the remaining humans as a field of fine threads, all on the Punks' blue-grey. The ground cloth is woven from the contract's creation transaction: it sets the threading, tie-up and treadling of an 8-shaft loom, so this pattern belongs to this transaction and no other. Top and bottom, the hash as a punch card: all 256 bits. Woven on a simulated Jacquard loom, 160 × 240 threads.
