Uncontained Release
Red roses, golden light, deep roots,
offered up without fear,
given to the world simply because
there was beauty enough to give.
A living ecosystem born from courage.
They leave their fragments on the wind.
A petal drifting into the shadow
of someone bound and restricted.
A seed of color catching the light,
whispering to the tied down, the hidden, the quiet.
Nothing that was given with love is ever truly gone.
Now, as the physical vessel rests
and your light passes into the deep,
your fragments remain upon the wind.
Something that was once contained inside
has been let out into the world.
And then it keeps moving.
A flower falls.
A butterfly leaves.
A colour catches somewhere else.
A fragment of someone's joy
enters another person's life.
A song survives its singer.
A phrase survives its author.
A gesture survives the person who first made it.
A person who was once constrained
by their circumstances can become,
after leaving, strangely uncontainable.
Everything we love will change,
everything we make will eventually weather,
and still, we make it.
We let the color out.
We let ourselves be seen.
We give the world something
it cannot entirely keep,
but cannot entirely lose either.
So let the light pass through you.
Let it attract whatever it attracts.
Though one day it may fade,
it never truly disappears,
and we’re just passing the light along.
In the songs.
In the colours.
In petals on the wind,
but it all starts when you finally open
and let go.
