I’m Sorry, I Remained

"I’m Sorry, I Remained" is a portrait of the body caught between falling and surviving. Suspended above a field of blue, the figure seems to have lost its direction, tangled in barbed wire, carrying a heart that looks wounded yet stubbornly alive. The scattered words; fail, abuse myself, poison-lover, hang me read like fragments of an internal conversation, the cruel vocabulary of a mind that has learned to turn its pain inward. Yet the figure remains suspended, neither rescued nor completely lost, as if existence itself has become a place it does not know how to leave. This work is about the tragic guilt of survival, the strange feeling of apologizing for still being here when staying has become unbearably difficult. The barbed wire becomes both prison and protection, cutting into the body while keeping it from falling further. Beneath all the violence is something painfully human; a heart that continues beating despite everything it has been taught to hate about itself. "I’m Sorry, I Remained" is not an apology for weakness, but an elegy for the exhausted self who kept breathing anyway, a quiet acknowledgment that sometimes remaining is not triumph, but the smallest, loneliest form of courage.
