Title: April 6th - 13:52 Medium: Super-8 film Aspect Ratio: 4:3 Resolution: 2880 x 2160 File Type: H.264 Codec / MP4. Comments: On the way back to Entebbe, we found ourselves in the middle of the Uganda Equator crossing. To be on the center of the Earth, where the most solid point of gravity grounds you like a hug to your body from your mother. I think of all the miles we swept and the hours of the year that have been shot on film. 366 days distilled into 1 hour. Time stretches for 20 thousands miles and another 20 thousand kilometers on seperate road trips on different continents. We make time shrink into a vial, or a film canister. For so much life, to edit it down into a vision, or a dream. Gently remembering once we started how much time was yet ahead, and now coming along as a changed man looking back to forget how much time had really passed. Patience and anxiety altogether, every day. Like the click of a shutter it had calmed my nerves. Pressing that button every 24 hours, feeling into the moment. Attempting to come to understanding a person, how they see, and seeing them as they are; In their trust and honor. To all the friends we had gained, and to all the friends we had lost. Time uncovers truths, and unravels the shadows. Are we ready to meet them? Another year gone, creating art with everyone. From the outside world to the inside digital cube: X marks the spot. To speak listen and follow along for the future to be written inside and out. Voices and ideas all in one. The endless feed that constantly feeds our temperamental. Community breaks us free from being alone. As we spend our time online, all the time. Art saves us. It is the equilibrium of our selves as is the equator is to the Earth. Where do we draw that fine line? Morals and ethics and boundaries to cross protect. Listen to the voices of our ancestors. Respect. Their calling wisdom and it lives in our DNA. Humanity all came from the same place, with sacred rituals lined in our hearts. From our ancestors who whispered deep into our souls from a thousand years ago. Jacob wore his mask with the men who sell them too. Honoring the art of the tribes, the people and their ancestors of mother Africa, from whence we all came. In the middle of the world, the rain had started. Halfway to the airport. Stranded until it passed, we supported the shops and loaded up a couple of handmade drums, a handful of masks, and a nkondi figure that was used as a door holder for the merchant. A lesson I learned on this big adventure, when you see something that calls to you. Ask yourself when will you ever be back to this place? Support the locals and enjoy the gifts to your friends family and the ones you want to give to yourself. A memory to enjoy and share, to tap into that moment as you had once lived it. Memory is like time travel.
