Comments: Jordan picked up Simon and I from our hostel to drive down to his home city where he grew up in Bulawayo. It was a long drive on a broken road where you would see children on the side of the road shoveling gravel into large potholes. It was a gnarly highway and we had saw a terrible crash on the way down. He set us up in his parents home to rest and prepare us for an early morning hike to see the endangered white rhino. There is an estimated southern white rhino population at approximately 15,752 as of August 2025. Jordan knew this rhino very well as he had been tracking it for years, so he knew exactly where in the wild he would be. We ducked down low in a field and hiked for an hour until we found her. We stayed very quiet and out of sight as he told us they have some of the worst eye sight but the best hearing sense. There was a moment that I literally witnessed the awareness like a dust devil traveling towards the rhino in a quantum field like traces of a ghost sonically hit the rhino and made him perked up. We walked a few meters out of the way, and out of nowhere this mini tornado swept in from where we just were standing and directly hit the rhino and covered him with dust and made him angry and anxious to a standing position stomping its feet. I could not believe what I was seeing, could that be him becoming aware of our presence? It sure as shit felt like thats what had just happened. Consciousness noticing and a delay swept through the field from where we stood. We waited for him to calm down and lay back down to move closer in. It was scary but exhilarating. Once he caught wind of us, no pun intended, he became chill and was okay with us being there as we meant no harm and wanted to say hello. He sniffed and exhaled like, its all good, I see you now, you scared me guys. We got as close as Jordan said was reasonable, made art and peacefully and respectfully left slowly and quietly to let him rest. We went on to see the petroglyphs on rock formations nearby to see what art people were making many, many years ago.
