Comments: Lee and I were invited with a museum curator in Kingston to visit the garrison of Tivoli Gardens. Marlon greeted us with a warm smile. The kids who were playing football came up to us to say hello and hang out. Marlon was giving us a tour of all the murals he created and curated in the neighborhood to uplift his community. Years ago there was a terrible tragedy that brought turmoil to the people of Tivoli Gardens. Now, they have been rebuilding together. Art was the spirit of renewal. Regenerating the garden with creativity. And, it was working. He and fellow artists came together to paint beautiful images and encouraging words across the rows of building in the town square. He created a movement. Bringing artists from all over the world to paint and bring a renewed sense of life to the Gardens again. Giving back to the place he comes from. He brings people like Lee and I to his home to teach us what happened, and what he is doing. After the art walk I was so touched by his work that I donated $1000 to support the cause and bring more art to the people. Every dollar goes a long way. I understand the struggle of being an artist and raising funds to make more art. It is the hardest thing in the world, because there is no financial return, just a spiritual good. Which at the end of the day, I believe brings more abundance. When you give to a great cause, more joy, more love, more life comes from it. Marlon and his artists friends were thrilled by our givings. He can now work on the next mural! That is what it's all about. That is why we are here. To do good, to learn and grow together. Art will always lead the way to truth, freedom, and expression. It is the soul of humanity, it is what makes us human. It is how we connect to one another. Through stories and ideas; communication. Marlon sat us down and fed us home mad Ital food by the don himself. He blessed me with a crystal necklace to remember this day.
