The Sky I Carried Home
The Ones That Refuse to Wither
Among the sea of silence in Surya Kencana,
there blooms a flower that refuses to die.
Edelweiss Java (Anaphalis javanica) not merely a flower,
but a myth rooted in the bones of these mountains.
Once offered to gods,
now it offers us a different kind of worship:
the quiet resilience of things that never ask to be noticed,
but never fail to be remembered.
She grows where breath is thin,
where the cold is constant,
yet her petals remain soft, eternal, untamed.
We do not pick her.
We bow instead.
For some beauty is not meant to be held,
only honored.
