“Gond” is an Indian tribal art form that originates from Madhya Pradesh. The Gond Painting features the elements of nature in the form of floral and faunal motifs. These motifs are then filled in using multi-coloured dots, fine lines, dashes and fish scales. The central theme of the Gond art is the depiction of the mystical beliefs through Hindu rituals, the images of Gods and Goddesses, stories of supernatural entities from ancient Hindu scriptures and a reverence of natural entities. It is believed that being closer to nature brings prosperity and good fortune to the mankind. In this Painting, life is represented as a circle, because if something dies, it gives new life to another. The tree of life symbolises harmony and unity. The tiger is worshipped by the tribal people and is viewed as their ancestor and the protector of the Gond community. The deer symbolises innocence and kindness.
