Every entrepreneur’s goal is to build and sustain a successful business venture, with profit clearly in sight. Achieving this requires setting up the right structure and surrounding oneself with the right people to bring the vision to life. While it may begin as a solo effort, long-term sustainability often demands collaboration and partnership. This principle also mirrors the kingdom of heaven. A structure for redemption was established through Jesus and sustained by the cooperation of His disciples. Because of this, every Christian has inherited the mission of being an agent of reconciliation, as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:18 NIV: “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” Every disciple of Jesus had a profession that complemented their God-given talents, and this was evident in how they fulfilled their assignments. Paul, for instance, had the gift of writing, and he used it effectively to serve the kingdom through his letters. As a result, he declared in 2 Timothy 4:6-8 NIV: “For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” On the other hand, Judas had a gift for managing finances and strategic planning but misused it. This poor choice ultimately led to his death by suicide—driven by self-condemnation, regret, and a deep sense of unfulfillment. This illustrates the outcomes we face when we choose to either use our talents for God’s kingdom or for selfish gain. Our talents are given based on our unique strengths and are intended to advance God's kingdom as seen in Matthew 25:15 NIV: To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. Ultimately, the Giver of these talents will require us to give an account of how we used them for the advancement of His kingdom, as noted in Luke 19:15 NIV: “He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.”
