Beeple’s interactive installation "Regular Animals" stages a process of cultural normalization of figures and technologies that exert an increasingly pervasive power over the collective imagination and everyday experience. The robotic dog, an emblem of algorithmic surveillance, automation, and the progressive militarization of public space, is recoded as an exotic, playful, almost affectionate presence. What should provoke critical reflection on the infrastructures of control is instead absorbed into the aesthetics of entertainment: the apparatus of power loses its political opacity and is transformed into an object of fascination and visual consumption. Likewise, individuals who concentrate economic capital, cultural influence, and the ability to shape the collective imagination are transformed into pop icons, memetic figures, recognizable and reassuring characters. Authority becomes a playful image, power becomes a mascot. Unease gives way to familiarity. Intentionally or not, "Regular Animals" is not merely an installation, but the symptom of a deeper cultural transformation: a visual culture in which even the most extreme forms of power and control can be observed with distracted curiosity, like animals in a techno-zoo, deprived of their capacity to make visible the political implications of the expansion of increasingly pervasive and potentially authoritarian models of governance.
