Always Has Been: Chapter 1

Nicéphore Niépce's Early Photographic Experiments (1815)

In 1815, French inventor Nicéphore Niépce pioneered early photographic techniques by experimenting with heliography—capturing images on light-sensitive materials using a camera obscura. His work marked one of the earliest efforts to permanently fix an image, although this initial attempt was soon surpassed by later developments. Nonetheless, Niépce's experiments significantly contributed to the evolution of modern photography, setting the stage for its eventual widespread adoption.
