In 2008, the Danish island of Samso gained attention for achieving self-sufficiency in renewable energy. Through community initiatives and sustainable investments in wind turbines and solar panels, Samso became fully powered by renewable resources. The island even produced surplus energy, contributing to Denmark's mainland grid. This project highlighted the potential for sustainable energy in small communities, serving as a model of innovation and self-sufficiency in energy management.
