In 1749, Swedish noblewoman and scientist Eva Ekeblad discovered a method to convert potatoes into flour and alcohol, significantly impacting agricultural and scientific advancements. Her innovation provided an alternative to wheat and rye flour, improving food security and leading to industrial applications of potatoes. Recognized by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Ekeblad became the first woman admitted as a member in 1748, marking progress in both science and gender equality.
