A hundred blue arms opening like a lotus, each fingertip crowned in gold, and in the middle of it all, a stillness I can’t explain. His eyes are hidden behind golden shields, but I felt him looking straight through my lens, and through me. In Kulasai, devotion isn’t watched from a distance. It is worn. Weeks of vows, paint, and prayer turn a human being into the goddess herself, and for those ten nights the line between the one who prays and the one who is prayed to simply disappears.
