As we arrived in Nema, on the far eastern edge of Mauritania, near the Mali border, we stumbled upon a striking scene. A group of men were tending to their laundry, spreading out vibrant fabrics on the ground to dry in the intense sun. This open-air laundry spot, a communal hub, perfectly captured a moment of daily life in this remote oasis.
