The First Devotion
I was there when the first stars appeared.
I watched her bring light into the darkness and give shape to things that had never existed. I saw what she could do, what she could create with a thought, and what the universe became at her command.
And still, I found myself looking at her.
Not the crown she wore. Not the gold that adorned her. Not the power that made the heavens bow.
Her.
I knew I had nothing she couldn’t create for herself. I had no kingdom to offer her, no treasure worthy of her hands. I couldn’t give her the stars because she had already made them.
But I could give her something that belonged entirely to me.
So I knelt.
