This work reimagines the iconic visual grammar of Neon Genesis Evangelion through a distinctly post-internet lens, inserting Pepe the Frog into the classic triad of EVA pilots. The composition echoes the original promotional posters of the mid-1990s, central frontal arrangement, saturated shadows, localized highlights, yet subverts their psychological tension with the absurdist calm of Pepe’s expression. By merging Shinji, Asuka, Misato, and EVA-01 with a meme-born figure, the piece bridges two cultural epochs: the existential angst of late-Heisei Japan and the decentralized, remix-driven aesthetics of Web3.
