It Was Here
In this work, I did not paint a figure.
I painted its absence.
The space is intentionally minimal: an empty chair, a stained off-white wall, a cold floor. Everything is still. But the shadow is not. It resembles a human form, yet it is not fully defined; its edges dissolve, and it does not quite settle onto the ground. The light source does not make sense. The physics feel slightly wrong.
That was deliberate.
Because sometimes a presence is revealed more clearly through what it leaves behind than through the body itself. This shadow is not proof of a person; it feels more like a residue of time. Something happened there. Someone stood there. A moment existed. Now only a faint vibration remains.
This work is not a memory.
It is not simply emptiness.
It is a statement:
It was here.
