Circe was a powerful sorceress, daughter of Helios and the Oceanid Perse. She lived on the mythical island of Aeaea, transforming those unfortunate enough to be stranded there into various animals. This disconsulate sailor, partly changed into a beast, stares homeward across the vast sea from the shores of Circe's Island.
