n September 1895, the first curtain rose here for Gounod's "Faust." The theater was a technical and cultural masterpiece by engineer Francesco Piazzalunga. For nearly a century, it was a stage for dramas and later, as a cinema, for dreams on celluloid. But the final chapter of this theater is a sad one. In 1983, the performance ended abruptly and permanently. Where applause once roared, decay now rules. Collapsed ceilings and rotting seats are the only audience left. A tragedy with no happy ending.
