When you think: God, would that I don’t fall. It feels like falling is only a matter of time, because there’s nothing around to hold on to, no reason to believe you’ll get out of this. It’s only a question of how long you can hold. How much longer you can stay like this, how much longer you can last. This isn’t about hope that there’s always a way out. It’s about a state that happens. And yes, sometimes you do untangle yourself, and later you look back and think: there, I found a way out after all. But in the moment, that way out is invisible, and all you can think is – would that I don’t fall.
