Hybrid Motel
The motel cracked like old paint,
Red doors for ghosts who never checked out.
A lizard in borrowed boots,
Pushing carts full of yesterday’s dreams.
The wind sighed promises of nowhere,
Breathing frost onto empty windows.
No fire behind the sun,
Only a flicker—
Too tired to burn through the haze.
