chasing butterflies

recently my son ran toward something beautiful with the kind of confidence only a toddler has. i chased after him, but not fast enough to stop him from falling face first onto the ground. i couldn’t stop replaying the moment in my mind, but making this artwork became a way of holding that memory differently. the butterfly is also a caution sign because children don’t see danger the way we do. they see wonder, something worth chasing. meanwhile, as parents we’re constantly scanning the world for what could go wrong. — my “overpaint” series explores a new workflow where i generate a starting composition in midjourney, then paint over it using my finger in infinite painter app on my iphone. i’m using the erc-7160 contract so collectors receive three layers of each artwork: • the original midjourney image • the full painting process video • the finished artwork
