“what are you?” is a question i’ve been asked more times than i could count. as a black multiracial woman, i’ve spent much of my life feeling like i have to explain, justify, or prove my identity because my appearance doesn’t always match other people’s expectations. this work reflects the experience of existing between categories while refusing to be reduced to one. my “overpaint” series explores a new workflow where i generate a starting composition in midjourney, then paint over it using my finger in infinite painter app on my iphone. i’m using the erc-7160 contract so collectors receive three layers of each artwork: • the original midjourney image • the full painting process video • the finished artwork
