Impressions from Japan
Tsukubai
I painted this water storage kind of entity at Ryoan-ji temple in Kyoto. it was somehow captivating in a very meditative manner. researched a little more about it on google i realized why.
It was then i realised that its purpose was merely utilitarian but Symbolic. A sculptural object where stone, water, bamboo, and emptiness coexist. surrounded by tiny rocks and moss. it was a beautiful object to study.
The water droplets from the hollow bamboo dripping into the well created an acoustic symphony, naturally, i sat there for three hours, silently embracing the beauty of that micro habitat.
I had never experienced nature so up close. it was transcendent.
