The Light He Couldn’t See
The Light He Couldn’t See
This painting was born from my reflection on the life of Vincent van Gogh.
When I read about his life, I was deeply moved by the sadness, loneliness, and struggles he carried within him. Yet, despite all that darkness, he continued to paint—to search for beauty, light, and meaning.
I wanted to create my own quiet tribute to him, not by recreating one of his paintings, but by imagining the light I wish he could have felt.
The intense yellow in this painting is more than the color of sunlight. For me, it represents hope—the inner light that remains alive even when life becomes unbearably dark.
The flowers emerge from this field of yellow like small flames of life, carrying a message I deeply believe in: sometimes, we continue not because everything is bright, but because a small light inside us refuses to disappear.
Perhaps this painting is my conversation with Van Gogh across time—a reminder that even in the deepest darkness, hope can still bloom.
