Roots in the skin
In this work, the naked body becomes a sacred territory where nature and time converge. The bluish, almost mineral skin appears eroded by the years, like an ancient wall bearing the scars of history. The leaves, strategically placed on the chest and belly, evoke the memory of a lost Eden, where human and plant life shared a common origin.
The composition speaks of fragility and strength: the gesture of the intertwined hands conveys vulnerability, while the stony texture that covers the figure suggests resistance and permanence. It is a body that not only inhabits the present, but also embodies the erosion of time, the duality between the ephemeral and the eternal.
The contrast between the cool tones of the body and the vibrant green of the leaves creates a symbolic tension: what withers versus what still breathes, what dies and what is reborn. The figure thus becomes a bridge between the flesh and nature, a metaphor for the human being as part of a larger life cycle, inseparable from the earth.
More than a portrait, it is a visual myth: an archetypal figure reminiscent of the primordial goddesses of fertility and, at the same time, of the ruins where life insists on sprouting.
