Amerika Apocalpyse

Nancy Kilmer

This drawing was created in November 2024 around the US Presidential election. As I was doodling, I felt this work expressed the madness of the division & discord in the USA. I had no idea why I added the animated fire element , but when the apocalyptic LA Fires came in 2025, I knew that I wanted to mint this art for the LA Fire victims. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to help LA Fire Victims through Teens for LA: Fire Relief fund at pledge.to This is my genesis collection on Transient Labs. Future editions of "Amerika Apocalypse" will continue.

I will go into further details of this work. The symbols in this work are deeply personal to me. The glass clock on the mantel is from my father, who was a watchmaker & jeweler. The nautilus shell is a symbol of my mother, who loved the ocean & came from Long Island, New York,, but spent her life landlocked in Oklahoma. The mantel is from my childhood home in Oklahoma, and the black & white tiled floor is from my apartment in Chelsea, NYC, that I tiled myself. The plaque, "Who is this I?" is an existential question I ask myself as my work is very much involved with exploring consciousness through my art. The girl with the peace sign on her face and an eyeball in her mouth is homage to the psychedelic '60's I experienced. The half nude figure in a white skirt is from a self portrait painting inspired from a trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, including the wooden carve crocodile. I added brains & Brain Croc in honor of my artist friend, @brainpasta. The graffiti on the mantel is "How Much Time do I Have?" is my question as to how much time I have to create art., after being asleep due to 24 years of opiods for chronic pain that took my creativity away. Now that Im lucid , my creativity is exploding. I want as much time as possible to express it.
