Transient Curated is pleased to present The Very Peculiar Travelers, a series of five video works by Kelly Boesch. Each work depicts a single figure, part human, part animal, part invention, rendered against spare, open backdrops. While fixed in the frame, the characters shift, breathe and move, traveling to their chosen destination.
The figures themselves resist easy categorization. A man perches atop a spotted beetle in the open desert. A giraffe carries luggage in a patterned coat. A third stands at the helm of a strange ship, sailing somewhere unknown. Boesch renders each character with a material richness; textured fabrics, worn leather, and polished surfaces, that gives them the feeling of objects pulled from a very specific, very private mythology.
Boesch brings to these works two decades of design experience, including work in large-format film, and a practice rooted in abstract painting. Her use of AI as a creative tool is less about automation than collaboration. In The Very Peculiar Travelers, she invites the viewer along for the journey.
