Curb Appeal

Transient Curated is pleased to present Curb Appeal, a series of 280 works by 0009. These works render familiar elements of urban streetscapes in synthetic fabric materials.

From the Artist:

From far away, these pieces might read as ordinary urban moments. A payphone, a dumpster, a storefront, a van, a subway surface, a roll-up door. The kind of things you pass every day without really thinking about.

I’m interested in these overlooked urban artifacts because they carry so much of the city’s memory. Not the polished version of the city, but the version that gets used, tagged, ignored, repaired, and passed through. The graffiti acts as a symbol moving through the work, showing up across different objects and spaces as a repeated mark of presence. It also ties back to the 90s graffiti artist uniform, the same jackets and fabrics that became part of the foundation for what my fabric logic represents: memory.

This series is about taking the world I grew up around, the street objects, the textures, the visual noise, and rebuilding it through the fabric logic I keep coming back to. Two things that feel opposite, hard city surfaces and soft constructed material, pushed together until they become their own kind of record.
