Beauty and danger often go hand in hand. I created this video self-portrait to challenge myself as an artist. In the artwork I wanted to show an aura of mystery, myth, and subtle danger, drawing inspiration from Balinese water spirits. I wanted to immerse you in that feeling—being irresistibly drawn into something mysterious and thrilling. The environment in the piece subtly shifts as you engage with it, pulling you deeper into the experience, just like the sirens lure their prey. It’s a reflection of our own curiosity, how we can’t help but step closer, even as the tension builds and shadows close in around us. The beauty is mesmerizing, but it comes with a warning. Be the part of the experience, interact with it, connect with it, but don’t come too close. This artwork was created during Bali Art Residency, 2024.
