FADING ROOTS
In Fading Roots, a last rice field stands fragile, a tender relic amidst Bali’s sprawling concrete transformation. The figure of a lone farmer anchors the scene—a ghost of tradition confronting a tide of progress. This haunting tableau whispers of sacrifice and survival, where prosperity erodes heritage, one grain at a time.
Process: Physical miniature sculptures and set photography with the presence of a real rice farmer. The final composition is meticulously refined through post-processing, uniting all elements into a seamless visual story bridging the physical and the digital.
This artwork was created during Bali Art Residency, 2024.
