Based on data from “A Computational Study of Empty Space Ratios in Chinese Landscape Painting, 618–2011” (Wang et al., 2022), this work translates the paper into a digital winterscape shanshui where absence becomes expression. It flips a perspective on the classical act of “leaving blank,” 留白 (liubai), through 留黑 (liuhei): not the untouched white of paper, but the unlit black of the screen.
