December Magic
Beneath a sky of powder blue, the world makes soft sounds,
As gentle flakes of winter white drape quiet over mounds.
The village sleeps in blankets deep, with chimneys puffing gray,
While golden windows cast their warmth to chase the cold away.
A centered tree with emerald boughs holds lights of amber gleam,
Reflecting in the rising mist of cocoa’s curling steam.
She holds the mug with mitten hands, a comfort sweet and hot,
Content within this frozen moment time has near forgot.
Her ginger friend, with curious paw, inspects the snow-made boy,
A tiny sculpted friend of frost, a simple winter toy.
The air may bite the tip of nose and freeze the river’s bend,
But heat survives in little things—in cocoa, and a friend.
So let the winter weave its spell in shades of white and gold,
For love is burning bright enough to keep away the cold.
