The room went dark but the screen kept breathing
She said one more minute, sometime before midnight. The lamp stayed on because turning it off would make the room feel too honest. The screen kept feeding her small lives, small disasters, small reasons not to sleep. By morning, nothing had happened to her, but somehow she felt used up anyway.
