We sat with what was left of them until it started to look like us
No one knew exactly when the bodies became history. First they were loved, then buried, then retold in quieter voices. Years passed, flowers pushed through, and the room kept arranging the living around the dead as if inheritance were a seating plan. Each person bowed their head, not only in grief, but in recognition.
