From the series ๐๐๐๐๐ฉ ๐๐๐๐๐ฉ
๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ณ๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ต๐ค๐ฉ came from a late night pickup at a warehouse in rural Kansas.
The scene was simple - a door left ajar, letting soft fluorescent light spill into the darkness.
I used just a single flat oily brush to work in the rough walls, a worn door, and that bright slice of interior. Exploring how light hits different surfaces at night.
For the ground, I made a custom asphalt brush to capture the texture of the warehouse lot. I wanted the piece to draw one's eye up from the ground, past the open door, to a lit window above.
These propped open doors are a common sight at these small rural facilities, but this one felt meaningful this time.
It made me think about how the over-the-road life always has me in between places - not quite inside or outside, always moving but often waiting.
This piece isn't just for those who've done these late-night stops. It's for all the night owls out there - the artists working on their craft when the world sleeps, the dreamers chasing their goals after hours, or those grinding at a job that'll someday fund their aspirations. It's for anyone who's felt that unique mix of being part of something bigger while also feeling alone in the quiet of the night.
With ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ณ๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ต๐ค๐ฉ, I'm trying to reveal something worth noticing in these everyday scenes we usually ignore.
It's an invitation to pause and appreciate the beauty in the mundane, to recognize the silent dedication of those who work through the night, and to find connection in the shared experience of solitude. In the end, it's a reminder that even in the most overlooked corners of our world, there's a story waiting to be told, a moment of unexpected grace in the glow of a fluorescent light.
