The original meaning of an idea rarely remains unchanged. Over time, it passes through countless interpretations, adaptations, and reinterpretations, which gradually layer upon one another, until its outward form begins to exist separately from what was once invested in it. Also gradually, these layers obscure the idea itself. Only a fragment remains visible on the surface, severed from its source, while everything else recedes into shadow—not disappearing without a trace, but no longer determining the way we perceive the whole.
