Borrowed Worth
I keep looking for my worth in other people.
In their attention, their affection, their approval. Every kind word makes me feel valuable, while every moment of silence, rejection, or disappointment feels like another crack in my heart.
I give pieces of myself away, hoping someone will make me feel whole.
I let other people’s reactions define how I see myself, forgetting that their inability to love me the way I need doesn’t make me any less worthy of love.
I stopped asking myself what I wanted and started asking everyone else if I was enough.
