Disappearance
He had spent his entire life running to reach this road, a place where no one was waiting for him. He set down the suitcase he carried, unlocked it, and surrendered all the bitter names and memories he had been hauling to the wind.
Then, without looking back, he set off. With every step, the road took a piece of his being as a keepsake; first, his shadow grew faint, then the lines of his face blurred into the dust, and finally, he himself dissolved into the absolute whiteness of the horizon.
The road was empty now, but lighter than before.
