Between Light and Shadow

Between Light and Shadow

On a night when the moon shimmered upon the water more gently than ever, a woman danced in the darkness. No one knew where she had come from or where she was going. The only thing she knew was that she must not stop. Small lanterns floated across the sky, each one carrying a dream that someone had once entrusted to the heavens. The woman reached toward one of them, perhaps to catch its light, or perhaps simply to touch something that had always remained beyond her reach. But beneath her feet, the darkness awakened. A serpent emerged from the water and coiled around her leg. Not tightly enough to make her fall, nor gently enough for her to forget its presence. For a moment, the woman looked at the serpent. And she realized that perhaps darkness is not always the enemy of light. Sometimes, darkness is what reminds us why we must keep moving toward the light. So she danced again. Between the water, between moonlight and shadow, between fear and freedom. Perhaps this is what life is: dancing in the moment when you do not know which direction holds salvation. And perhaps freedom is not the escape from darkness; but learning how to dance with it. Physical oilpainting on canvas 🎨
