When Sleep Turned Against Me
After the hospital at home, sleep was no longer a refuge.
The room was quiet, but the images stayed. Faces appeared where there were none. Flowers became threatening. Tenderness and fear occupied the same space.
This work comes from the strange nightmares that followed those final weeks, when exhaustion, memory and grief blurred into one another.
The body sleeps.
Something else remains awake.
