Ilé Agbẹgilérè, means the wood carver's house. In this Chapter Ayo faces intense financial and social pressure regarding his upcoming engagement to Morenike. First, Morenike’s mother openly questions if a humble woodcarver can properly support her daughter. Then, a wealthy, arrogant rival named Dapo stalks Ayo home, directly challenging him and claiming Ayo cannot afford her. Left completely alone in the night, Ayo spirals into deep anxiety and self-doubt. He questions if his love is enough or if he is being selfish, channeling his heavy worries into carving a wooden box.
