#001 Rose-ringed Parakeet
Honestly? I was just cold and cutting through the park on my way home.
Nobody around. The kind of day that keeps people inside. Those who did come out, heads down, walking fast. Nobody looking up.
I wasn't either. Then something green caught my eye.
I stopped. Raised the camera.
He was in the mulberry tree, eating. Feathers puffed up against the cold, beak covered in berries, completely ignoring me, the temperature, the whole grey day. Eight seconds. Then gone. Like he was never there.
But he was.
This bird isn't from here. It crossed continents, moved into our cities, never asked anyone. Just lives in the park now. Eats mulberries. On a cold day while everyone stays home.
We think we notice the world around us. Mostly we just walk past it.
