Echo Chamber
I am so full.
Bursting at the banks,
threatening overflow.
I am playing hide and seek
with the part of me that wants to be found.
And if it pours from me in great rivers.
It is evidence that something inside me
loved enough to bleed,
and lived long enough to let go.
I’m functional art.
Who needs a heart
when you can have a gloss this smart?
The hollow space just means there’s more room
for the applause to echo.
Come a little bit closer.
Make the feeling last.
Lean your cheek against the metal,
feel the simulated heat,
dance with me to this ridiculous little beat.
Don't look too hard at the silhouette in the dark.
Don't ask where the spark has gone.
Just catch the drip on your fingertips,
put a bright pink smile on both of our lips,
and tell me anything except the truth.
Tell me I'm healing.
Tell me I'm glowing.
Tell me I’m grand.
...and please, God,
don't let me hit the sand.
