Shifted Portraits

Reyhan

I sketch people the way our mind captures strangers: in loose lines, quick impressions, unfinished edges. These characters aren’t meant to be perfect. They’re meant to feel familiar like someone you’ve passed a hundred times but never really looked at. Their heads start in one direction and then shift, a slow, subtle turn. This “double-face” motion is intentional. It mirrors the way we constantly re-see people, re-judge them, reinterpret who they are. A single face is never enough. One angle never tells the whole story. The characters switch between perspectives because identities do, too. We’re always who we were a second ago, and who we’re becoming in the next. My sketches live in that in-between. unfinished, unstable, quietly alive.
