Title: July 11th - 10:47 Medium: Super-8 film Aspect Ratio: 4:3 Resolution: 2880 x 2160 File Type: H.264 Codec / MP4. Comments: It was time to check out of the apartment in Birmingham before weaving back into Mississippi. I saw a mail truck half way down the block while I was packing up the car. I thought to myself, maybe the mail man will make art with me today! I waited on the street until he came closer, and waved hello. He hand delivered the mail to our neighbors and smiled back. I approached the gentleman. His name is Greg, and I asked if we may honor him by including him in the portrait series. I said, It would not take more than ten seconds of your time! He asked what to do and I said just be yourself. He delivered the mail to our house and I started recording him as he walked back towards his mail truck. I always respected the hard work of a mail man. Rain, sleet, and snow as the saying goes. The life blood of our countries operational system. Every time I see a mailman I say hello and thank you. I told myself if this art thing did not work out, that I would become a post man myself... so next time you see your post man or woman. Say hello and smile! Lets learn to appreciate those who serve us without our noticing. Have gratitude for the invisible force that leaves us a gift in our mailbox every so often. Wether its a bill or a check. They are doing their job, and doing their best! I am grateful for Greg. For all the mail people.
