Comments: Sean and I had met for breakfast at this hippie joint near his house. It was a tasty vegan spot. We rolled over to pick up another punk before heading to the nature park to find a place to photograph. There were a few spots we found like an abandoned zoo. Sean wanted to jump in for a sweet shot, but there was no way out. He would've been on view for the bystanders. We passed by some graffiti and rolled on to another spot. This time in the parking lot, with a tree his wife once did research on! She studied all the trees in this forest. Still did not feel like it was the right light to shoot the video, so we made his polaroid there instead to honor his loving wife and her work. On the way towards the Lions bridge we saw large totem poles installed throughout the park. We hopped in the car and made a wrong turn, twice, trying to park next to the walkway to the view of the bridge. It was a cloudy day so the light was scarce. There was a gap in the sky and the sun shined through as I had pointed my camera at Sean, and he pointed back at me. The way photographers communicate with one another, is how we see each other. The shutter clicks on both ends. Friendship is in the eye of the beholder, and it helps when you have a leica camera, and the other a Super 8. Same location, same moment, different perception and perspectives. Sean with his black and white vision, and myself with a colorful view on the world. Come together like photons meeting from particles into waves. A mirrored reality through the lens. To see one another, as we see ourselves in the reflection of the lens. Somewhere in Canada at the Lions gate bridge, Sean and I became friends. For the love of photography and crypto punks. The art is what connects us!
